NOSA Goes to Tanzania

8 NOSA students have been selected to join a one week service trip to Tanzania with the non-profit organization OneSight. They will be working alongside fellow optometry students as part of a 25 member team comprised of students from the United States and Canada. Being selected for this trip from 430 student applicants is quite an honor and speaks to the accomplishments of these dedicated students.

The focus of this service trip will be to provide eye care and glasses to thousands of individuals living in under-served areas in Tanzania. OneSight has been serving such communities since 1988 and has so far provided eye care services to over 9 million people in 46 countries.

The organization currently operates 23 sustainable vision centers around the world which provide permanent access to care for 5 million individuals with plans to reach 20 million within the next 5 years. This trip was made possible by the generous support of Luxottica Retail North America who is covering the travel and lodging expenses for all 25 students.
